Upgrading of the MiCorr "by keywords" search tool

The MiCorr application is constantly evolving. One of the latest major developments concerns the ‘By keyword’ search tool that must be used to consult MiCorr object files. As a reminder, the object files compile the data collected by the ‘By visual inspection’ and ‘By stratigraphic representation’ search tools, together with metadata on the objects studied and analysis results. There are currently 80 object files. To assist the user, filters (countries, metal families, forms of corrosion and environments) are provided to give a quick overview of the variety of object files. These filters can be used to refine the keyword search.
There are two ways of using the ‘By keyword’ search tool. Either by typing a word in the empty box of the tool: ‘pin’ for example. 12 results are displayed, along with some information about the objects (metal family, alloy, type and name of the object, origin, chronology, technology and location of the artefact). Clicking on a line opens the corresponding object file. The second method is to use the filters: by clicking on Cu in the Metal filter, then on Switzerland in the Country filter, you get 35 results. The search can be further refined using the Corrosion form and Environment filters. Users can also consult the list of current results and select the keyword of their choice. Filters and keywords can also be used in parallel. For example, for the keyword ‘pin’, of the 12 results, 3 artefacts were found in soil and the other 9 on a lake site.
Thanks to its robust, interactive search tools, the MiCorr application has become a user-friendly research tool whose databases are constantly being enriched by conservation professionals.
