Within his internship (3rd year BA diploma work) and after testing MiCorr to identify the presence of aluminium alloys on objects (torches and sports accessories) from The Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, Rayan Ammon, a bachelor student at the Haute Ecole Arc Conservation-restoration, Neuchâtel, successfully used the DiscoveryMat application to specify the composition of these alloys. Additional XRF analyses of the objects studied enabled Rayan to enrich the application’s aluminium database to make the tool more relevant. STSM applicants Ahmad Abu-Baker (Jordan), Pablo General (Spain) and Valentina Ljubic Tobisch (Austria) and Christian Degrigny visited Rayan, who demonstrated the possibilities of DiscoveryMat in the context of in-situ documentation of museum objects.
